AI; My enemy-turned-friend

AI – you’ve probably heard about it too. Perhaps you use it?

As soon as AI image generators were good enough to incorporate into my design process I was afraid that my job that I love would soon be obsolete!

I mean, isn’t it like the farmer’s of old who were replaced by tractors? And the factory workers who were replaced by robots?

I love history and I thought history was repeating itself…

I stood on one side – and there was AI on the other – laughing at me, it seemed.

It was my nemesis.

I didn’t even want to approach AI to learn about it because why get to know my enemy – right?

But I stepped out of my comfort zone and got acquainted with AI.

And I was sold!

Gasping for breath, even.

It’s a huge ecosystem of possibilities out there with AI and once I got my feet wet, I couldn’t keep back! I went all in.

I learned and practiced and prompted for hours.

I imagined and produced images that I never dreamed possible.

I consumed more iced coffees than words on this page (ok, poetic license there – let’s just say that sharing the number is really out of my comfort zone:)).

And I am so relieved.

Because the more I delve into AI and see the possibilities it gives me, the more I realize that AI will not shove designers away.

Why do I think that?

Because (at least for now), AI is as good as the designer.

Anyone could pay for the tools and produce images they weren’t able to do before, but depending on how good a designer you are without AI tools, that’s how well the AI tools will work for you.

The more creative you are without AI tools, the more creative AI will be with you.

It’s like a magnified mirror – without the facial blemishes:)

Thanks, Self, I’m glad I opened the door to AI –  my now enemy-turned-friend.

Oh, and all images were created using AI tools:)

Here’s some more of that magic!
